Metlifecare Limited Appoints Glen Sowry as Chief Executive

Friday 20 November 2015

Glen Sowry has been appointed Chief Executive of Metlifecare Limited, following a search conducted by SEQEL.

Glen was presently the Chief Executive of Housing New Zealand – a $20b property investment and management organisation which houses more than 5% of New Zealanders. Glen spent his early career as a professional yachtsman, completing two Whitbread series with Sir Peter Blake, and winning the race in the Steinlager2 team and repeating that achievement with Grant Dalton in 1994. Through sailing, Glen developed substantial media experience which saw him move into public relations and corporate communications in the 90s – initially with Telecom and Television New Zealand. In 2002 Glen was invited to join Air New Zealand as its Head of Corporate Communications. After several years in that role Glen was offered the opportunity to move into operational roles, eventually taking a General Management mandate for the short haul business for Air New Zealand. In that period Glen was responsible for implementing Air New Zealand’s revolutionary “Seats to Suit” offer which has become a core strategic differentiator for the airline in the Pacific.
