PwC Board appointment

PwC New Zealand has appointed Martin Wiseman as an Independent External Member of the firm's governance Board following a comprehensive selection process led by Karen Shires - PwC NZ Chair, the PwC NZ Board, and SEQEL Partners.

PwC New Zealand is one of the largest professional services firms in the country, providing Assurance, Advisory, Tax and Legal Services. The firm employs 1,700 people, including 144 Partners.

Martin brings deep experience in governance, professional services and leadership, having built an outstanding career advising New Zealand businesses and holding senior governance roles across the private and not-for-profit sectors.

He is a highly accomplished lawyer, having served as a Partner of DLA Piper and its predecessor firm for more than 25 years. He is the former Chair of DLA Piper New Zealand and served as Country Managing Partner for over a decade. He also chaired the Remuneration Committee of DLA Piper Australia and, for a period, chaired its Board. DLA Piper is a global law firm with offices in more than 40 countries.

Since 2012, Martin has chaired the Starship Foundation, raising funds for New Zealand's national children's hospital, as well as supporting wider medical, surgical and mental health causes across New Zealand and the South Pacific. He is one of four Trustees and Directors of the Foodstuffs North Island Perpetuation and Protection Trusts Group, a role he has held since 2018. The Group is the landlord to the majority of New World, PAK'nSAVE, Four Square and Gilmours properties in the North Island. He is also a long-serving Director and Chair of the New Zealand Merchants Group, a privately owned home textiles importer.

Martin holds a Bachelor of Laws and is a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand.
