Southern Cross Healthcare appoints Dr Dwayne Crombie as a Non Executive Director

Southern Cross Healthcare has appointed Dwayne Crombie as a Non Executive Director following a board director search conducted by SEQEL Partners.

Dr Crombie has worked at the global healthcare organisation Bupa for 15 years in several Managing Director roles. He is Melbourne based and is currently leading Health Services at Bupa Asia-Pacific. This unit has circa 5000 staff, being the largest dental provider in Australia, operating optical and hearing businesses and delivering contracted health services for the Australian Defence Force and other federal and state entities. For seven years up until 2020 he led Bupa Health Insurance, the largest health insurer in Australia with four million members, annual revenue of $6.8 billion and 2000 staff. This entity is the largest Bupa business unit globally. Prior to this, he held a range of roles including running Bupa NZ and being Chief Executive for Waitemata Health and Waitemata DHB.

He is currently the Chair for Repromed Auckland and is a Board member of Bupa Health Services, Bupa Innovation and George Health.

He holds a MBChB and DCom from the University of Otago and a Master of Business Administration from University of Auckland.
